Emy Castro nació en el norte del Perú, donde el canto no se aprende, se hereda. Su abuela cantaba, su mamá también, y desde niña ella supo que su voz venía de ahí, de algo profundo, antiguo, verdadero. Con el tiempo, descubrió que también podía hablar con los colores, con sus manos, con la pintura. Cantar y pintar se volvieron su manera de sentir, de sanar, de contar lo que a veces no se puede decir con palabras. Cada cosa que crea viene de adentro. No busca ser perfecta, busca ser honesta. Y cuando canta o pinta, algo se abre. Algo llega. Algo toca.

Emy Castro was born in northern Peru, where singing isn’t taught — it’s passed down. Her grandmother sang, her mother too, and from a young age she knew her voice came from something deep, ancient, and real. Over time, she found another way to speak: through color, through painting. Singing and painting became her way of feeling, healing, and telling stories words couldn’t hold. Everything she creates comes from within. She’s not trying to be perfect — she’s trying to be honest. And when she sings or paints, something opens. Something reaches. Something moves.

A lo largo de mi camino musical, he tenido el privilegio de cantar y grabar junto a grandes artistas que admiro profundamente, como Susana Baca, Eva Ayllón y Natalia Lafourcade. Cada encuentro fue un aprendizaje, un regalo para el alma. Pero más allá de los escenarios, lo que más me ha marcado es la conexión con la gente: cantar mirando a los ojos, compartir historias que se parecen a la mía, sanar a través del arte. Vengo de una línea de mujeres que cantaban con el corazón, y eso es lo que intento hacer cada vez que abro la voz.

Throughout my musical journey, I’ve had the honor of singing and recording with artists I deeply admire like Susana Baca, Eva Ayllón, and Natalia Lafourcade. Each moment taught me something that stayed in my soul. But more than any big stage, what moves me most is the connection singing heart to heart, sharing stories that feel like my own, healing through music. I come from a line of women who sang with everything they had, and that’s what I try to do every time I open my voice.
